Over the past few months an organization called the United Coalition of Reason (United CoR) has begun putting up posters and billboards supporting atheism. They display very poignant statements like: “Good without God? 40 million Americans are.” Also: “Don’t believe in God? You are not alone.”
In many cases, billboards are vandalized with some words removed and others added. One particular billboard was pulled down due to death threats on the family that owned the land on which the billboard was placed. Subway posters have also been vandalized and/or torn down.
Christians need to pay close attention to what is going on with these incidents. Not only is their freedom of speech drawn into the spotlight but also, and most importantly, the face of Christ as well.
Shaun Jeffers, leader of the Cincinnati branch of United CoR, stated, “Our plans are to continue to have this billboard up for the next month in order to raise awareness about nontheistic organizations in Cincinnati and hopefully attract new members to participate.
